MEET THE OWNERS
My name is John Goossens, and together with my wife Becca and daughters Harper (7) and Keeley (3), we are thrilled to introduce ourselves as the owners of Island Fitness in Pine Island.
We moved to Pine Island in 2015 and are very excited to become a greater part of the amazing community. One of our main goals is to maintain and grow the culture and supportive community here to help you achieve your fitness goals.
Being involved in fitness and athletics is a major part of our lives, and we believe it is a key factor in our happiness. We have experience as student athletes, in coaching, and now as parents, as both Harper and Keeley enjoy KAATS gymnastics and swimming, and Harper stays active in dance, cheerleading, volleyball, and figure skating.
We are eager to get to know all of you personally and to hear about your fitness goals. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and say hi if you see any of us in the gym!

Clean shoes or lifting socks must be worn in the gym at all times. Failure to wear clean footwear may result in a $20 cleaning fee.

Appropriate attire is required at all times and must include chest coverage.

Do not drop the dumbbells or metal weight plates. Rubber bumper plates are the only weights designed to be dropped.

Don’t purposely slam weights, yell, scream, or use profanity.

Be mindful of others’ space and access to equipment.

Speakers are not allowed.

Put your belongings away and re-rack weights when you are finished.

Clean the equipment when you finish.

Chalk is allowed, but excessive messes must be cleaned up.

16-17 years old may have an individual membership with the approval of a parent/guardian

14-15 years old may have a couple or family membership with a parent/guardian and may only use the facility WITH a parent/guardian present

13 years old and under are not allowed to use the gym

No, we do not charge any additional annual fees on top of your initial enrollment and monthly fee.
Yes, if you pay for a year in full, you will get a month free (AKA pay for 12 months, get 13 months of membership)*.

Yes! For college and other post-secondary students, we offer free enrollment plus added flexibility in when your membership is active (summers, spring break, holidays, etc.). Please let us know if you are interested and we can answer any more of your questions.

We sell day passes to active members of the gym bringing a non-member WITH them into the club.
Guest passes are $5/day per visitor and must be paid in cash (place in Office drop box) or Venmo @IslandFitnessPI.
All guests must fill out a liability waiver.
Yes, the infrared sauna is included in your membership, and there is no additional cost for the sauna. Use of the Sauna is first come, first served.
Yes, you can freeze your membership for up to 3 months in a rolling 12-month period.
Photography and video recording are permitted provided they do not disrupt others’ use of the facility and do not capture any individual without their prior consent. If any person requests that recording stop, recording must cease immediately, regardless of whether the individual appears directly or incidentally in the footage.
Unfortunately, we currently do not offer either.

We have partnered with ActivePT and Sports, whose Pine Island clinic is conveniently located inside the Main Street entrance of Island Fitness.
Patients will enjoy the privacy of enclosed treatment rooms and have access to all the amenities of the gym if needed for your therapy.
